I am a huge fan of the movies – my library consists of over 300 dvd’s, which in all honesty, might be a waste of money – but there’s nothing better than a good movie!
The Upside, a movie that I have been wanting to see since I first saw the trailer 3 months ago, finally was released this weekend. It stars comedian Kevin Hart, Bryan Cranston – who is best known as Walter White from Breaking Bad, and Nicole Kidman.
If you are like me, you like to view reviews of a movie before going – my favorite place is www.rottentomatoes.com – I don’t always agree with them and in this case, I definitely disagree with them! They have a rating scale of 0-100% “freshness”. They give this movie a 40% and an average of a 5.3 out of 10. What I find more accurate is what the Audience score is – and in this case, its 86% – with an average score of 4.2 out of 5.
I have only done one review on this page – and I said Bohemian Rhapsody was the best movie I had seen in a long time! Well this movie just surpassed that – by a lot!
I won’t go into a lot of details on why I loved this movie because I am not a fan of spoilers – also, I am no Siskel or Ebert – but this movie has pretty much everything, minus a “shoot-em-up” scene. I am a fan of dry/subtle comedy which this movie delivered on! I had a few moments where I busted out laughing – loudly – from lines that just catch you off-guard. The chemistry of Hart and Cranston makes me think this won’t be the last movie they do together. The fact that this movie is based on a true story makes it that much better!
I highly recommend this movie! It’s just over 2 hours long but it doesn’t seem that long! I give it a 5 out of 5.
