It is already October! That means 1…well….2 things…. 1 – Snow is soon to fall and 2 – HALLOWEEN – or what Dr. Kelso from Scrubs would call it, the Mother of all non-holidays – is soon upon us!
Halloween falls on a Thursday this year, but most of the entertainment from the bars/night life establishments will come on either Friday the 25th or Saturday the 26th. You will have a lot of businesses doing costume contests for all you adults who still have that inner child in them who loves to dress up once a year (guilty)!
I will do my best to gather all the information I can find and get it out to you so you can plan nights accordingly! I will post this blog today – October 3rd – and will try to update it as much as possible! If you are reading this and notice something is missing, please let me know!
I will be posting events that are Halloween related. There will be plenty of things going on in this time frame that is not Halloween related, so they will just be omitted in this post – but will show up on my daily lists – so here is what I have found so far!
Twisted Nightmare, LLC will be having their Twisted Nightmare Haunted House again this year. They will be starting 1 week from today, October 10th and will run until Halloween night! Their haunted house will start at 7 pm each night.
The Jaycees Feargrounds has been in the Arts Building on the W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds since 1998! They will be open starting on Friday, October 11th. They will be open on the 11th, 12th, 17th, 18th, 19th, 20th, 24th, 25th, 26th, 29th, 30th, 31st & November 1st and 2nd. Doors open at 7 pm!
Screaming Woods Haunted Trails will have their Haunted Woods event starting Friday the 18th and will be held the 18th, 19th, 25th & 26th. Its a Fun and Trilling Outdoor Adventure from 8 pm – 11 pm each evening.
Voices from the Past: Woodlawn by Lantern Tour will start on Thursday the 24th and will run through Saturday the 26th. Each night will have 5 (6 on Friday and Saturday) different tours. Experience Woodlawn Cemetery as you never have before at the Voices from the Past: Woodlawn by Lantern tour. The tour is an opportunity to meet some of the most interesting characters of Sioux Falls’ history, as local actors bring their colorful stories to life on a lantern light walk through the local cemetery. While these people of Sioux Falls’ distant past may no longer be with us, their stories can continue to live on. Join us October 24th through 26th to tour Woodlawn Cemetery in Sioux Falls. Tickets are $10
Events on Friday, October 25th:
ZooBoo at the Great Plains Zoo & Delbridge Museum of Natural History will run from the 25th through the 27th. ZooBoo is the region’s premier Halloween event. Every year, the Zoo thrills children and adults alike with a three-night Halloween extravaganza. Over the course of three nights, 10,000+ visitors will wind their way through the decorated exhibits and walkways in the Zoo, collecting candy and trinkets at a variety of treat tents from costumed presenters.
There will be an Autumn Festival, An Arts & Crafts Affair held at the Denny Sanford Premier Center on Friday October 25th through the 27th starting at 11 am, 9 am and 10 am respectively.
The Icon Event Hall + Lounge will be having a 11th Annual Halloween Rap Karaoke Party on Friday the 25th. The event starts at 9 pm.
Tallgrass Recovery is putting on a scary good time on Friday 10/25…the evening will include music, food, dancing, games and lots of laughter! THIS IS A CLEAN AND SOBER EVENT! The theme is Star Wars but all costumes are welcome! Doors open at 6 pm, music begins at 7 pm, costume contest (prizes given to the top 3 picks) at 9 pm.
Bigs Bar will be having a Punk Rock Halloween on Friday the 25th at 7pm! The Party will feature The Odd Life / Basement Sound / Hard No / Absent Idols. Tickets are only $5!
Books n Brewz Pizzeria LLC will be hosting A Night of Paranormal Talk. Special guests: Cryptozoologist and Paranormal Investigator Jack Cary of PIA, Psychic/ Medium Donna O’Dea, Local Historian and Paranormal Investigator Shane Sutherland of Hillbilly Haunts and more. This will be going on Friday the 25th starting at 7 pm.
Skate City SD will have their Annual Teen Costume Party on Friday the 25th from 8 PM – 11 PM. Admission $7 Skate rental fees apply. Costume Contest | Prize Drawings | Games and More!
Heartland Country Corn Maze will have their Haunted Corn Maze on the 25th & 26th at 6 pm. Some say these grounds are the scariest place on earth. Think you can handle the HAUNTED Heartland Country Corn Maze? If you’re up for the challenge, check us out… Friday, October 25th & Saturday, October 26th, 6pm-9:30pm.

The 11th Annual Trick-or-Treat 5k/10k/ Walk/Run & Candy Dash will be held at the Sioux Falls Bike Trail – Pasley Park and Lion’s Park Side path on Saturday the 26th at 9:30 am. A Great Family Fun Event! There will be a LIVE DJ! Wear Those Costumes and Win Prizes!
Are you a fan of shows like Face Off or Skin Wars? Would you like to be able to create your own special effects makeup looks? Join the makeup team from the Jaycees Feargrounds and learn how to safely create SFX injury basics with kit techniques – cuts, burns, wounds and bruises on Saturday the 26th at 10 am. Finish off the class by turning yourself into a zombie! Tickets are $20 at the Washington Pavilion (12+ event).
CK Stables, located in Harrisburg, will be having their Halloween Costume Party on Saturday the 26th from 1 pm – 4 pm. Come out to the barn and trick-or-treat with the horses and their kiddos!! Make your way through the aisles to see the horses dressed in costume and then head over to the arena for more fun! Our annual costume party is free and open to the public.
All American Gymnastics Academy will have a Spooktacular Saturday – Halloween Party on the 26th from 6 PM – 10 PM. This night will be filled with kid friendly Halloween games, obstacle course, pumpkin painting, and inflatables. All kids are welcome to come dressed in their costumes and enter in the Costume Contest! Pizza will be available to all. Towards the end of the evening, the kids can relax and enjoy a Family Friendly Halloween Movie on their big screen projector.
The Sioux Falls Zombie Walk will be held downtown on Saturday the 26th. Makeup starts at noon and the Parade is at 3 pm
McNally’s will be having their own Halloween Shindig on Saturday the 26th starting at 3 pm. Go check out their spooky specials while their little devils serve you!
The South Bar in Hartford will have their Zombie Apocalypse Party on Saturday the 26th starting at 6 pm. Wanna be a walking dead? Bring on your bloodiest zombie costume! Wanna be the hero of the night? Come as a kick ass zombie hunter! Don’t wanna dress up? That’s fine, come as you are….every zombie needs someone to munch on! The Icon Event Hall + Lounge will be having a 605 Emo Night (Halloween Edition) on Saturday the 26th at 8 pm. Bring your Halloween costumes and hear your favorite early 2000’s emo hits with a spooky twist. DJ Entendu and DJ S.A.D. return to bring you a night you wont forget!
The District will once again have their Halloween Costume Party. This will be a 21+ event. DJ ZEØ of DJ SieffStyle Entertainment will be the DJ and will go on at 9 pm on Saturday the 26th. There will be Prizes for best costumes!
Burnside Bingo will be having a Halloween Party on Saturday the 26th! Wear a costume for your chance to win prizes! Doors open at 4:30, Happy Hour Bingo starts at 5:45 with early Birds and Warmups starting at 6:30. Regular session starts at 7:05. $1 Bottled beers all night.

Ladies of the 80s – A Salute to the Fabulous Females of 80s Music will be at The Attic for their Halloween Bash! This event starts at 9 pm on Saturday the 26th.

The Butterfly House & Aquarium will have a Halloween Party on Sunday the 27th from 11 am – 4 pm. Come visit the Butterfly House & Aquarium for a hauntingly good time on Sunday the 27th! Games, prizes, spooky story time and trick-or-treating with the staff! FREE with paid admission/membership. Costumes optional (for both kids and adults).
Downtown Sioux Falls Inc. will be having a Downtown Trick or Treat. Along with traditional trick-or-treating at participating downtown businesses, there will also be feature photo areas, and exciting kid’s activities at various locations. No advanced registration required – just show up. List of participating locations and map coming soon! Event will be held Sunday the 27th starting at 1 pm.
The Icon Event Hall + Lounge will have their HallowScream, a Drag Brunch on Saturday the 27th from 11:30 AM – 2:30 PM. All your FAVORITE things: Brunch, Mimosas, Bloody Marys and the best DRAG performers. Tickets range from $30 to $45.
The Cake Lady Sioux Falls will be having a Kid-Friendly Spooky Bash on Sunday the 27th from 2 pm – 4 pm. The Cake Lady Bakery is opening our doors to kids ages 4-10. There is a maximum limit of 100 kids. This is a free event, but only those who respond to this page are to attend. The child must be accompanied by an adult. First come, first serve! This kid-friendly event will have a magician, games, a mystery box touch-and-feel, decorate your own cupcake, and prizes. Feel free to dress your little ones for the occasion to take a picture in front of a festive Cake Lady sign.
There will be a Family Halloween Costume Party at Skate City SD on Sunday, October 27th from 12-4 pm. We will have a costume parade, games, and don’t forget about the door prizes!

Ellie Stone Bride Haunted Runway Show will be on Wednesday the 30th at the Icon Event Hall + Lounge. Tickets are $10 and All ticket sales to benefit the Sioux Falls tornado victims.
The Good Night Theatre Collective will be performing The Rocky Horror Show at the Icon Event Hall + Lounge. Everyone loves to do a little Halloween celebrating, so come up to the lab to see what’s on the slab, as Good Night kicks off the fall with an over-the-top, out-of-control performance of a beloved cult classic right here on the ICON stage. This will run from Oct. 31 – Nov. 3
The Bonus Round Bar will be having a Halloween Party at their original Cliff Avenue location for their 5th annual Halloween party and costume contest on Halloween night at 8 pm! It’ll be a night of great beers, cool costumes, prizes, and a few frightful surprises! Judging will take place at 11, but you’ll want to be there early!

Trick or Treat with REACH on the 31st from 4 pm – 6 pm at the Western Mall. The Western Mall is excited to welcome back trick or treaters to the Western Mall on Halloween. Participating Western Mall Businesses will be handing out treats on Thursday, October 31st from 4-6 pm. including REACH. Kids can enjoy trick or treating with our indoor AND outdoor tenants. Be sure to bring a large bucket or bag as the kids will head home with a lot of goodies! A list of participating businesses will be posted at every entrance and a poster will be on each door participating. Look out for the orange posters!
